Does anyone know what big companies started off using angel investing for their start-up?

By Trading Pro Course Advisor · April 7, 2010 · Filed in Investing · 3 Comments »

I am doing an M.B.A. presentation on Angel investing and am trying to use a big corporation as an example of successful angel investing. Are there any big companies that started off using angel investing to fund their idea and now are very successful? Please let me know of any. Thanks.

I’m interested in learning more about investing in developing real estate. Can somebody tell me how to approach this? Is there a list of developers that I can look up that may have a list of their projects?

that takes tons of money and lots of risk – you’re better off starting with investing in rental properties that can give you positive ash flow from day one

I want to know about stocks, shares and how i need to start investing in stock/share market?

The very old saying Do not keep all your egg in one basket applies. While investing keep following in mind. (1) Safety (2) Liquidity In my opinion invest 20% in stock (speculation) 40% in medium term consistent interest earning deposits (from well known companies) , 20% in long term investment and 20% in liquid asset (savings deposit, cash) to meet unforeseen exigencies.

What is the very best investing software there is?

By Trading Pro Course Advisor · April 1, 2010 · Filed in Investing · 4 Comments »

I know there are a bunch of programs that help us make better investing decisions, and I’m looking for the best one. Since I don’t know any of them, I’ve decided to come here and ask.

What is the best software in your opinion and why?

Assuming you are an active trader with good fundamental skills, you would find VectorVest to be an outstanding choice. I could give you lots of reasons, but try this one- You can start with a 5 week trial for $10. If you like it, it’s $650 per year. I spent two weeks learning it prior to investing with it, but made enough in the next three weeks with it to pay for four years of the service. It continues to produce winners I would never have identified otherwise. Absolutely great support (live, smart, friendly) and excellent built-in tutoring.

What do I need to know before investing in a new company?

By Trading Pro Course Advisor · March 30, 2010 · Filed in Investing · 4 Comments »

No one in my family has EVER invested money. We save. I was always taught it was a gamble, and "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is".
Someone close to me has recently invested money into a new company, and got a LARGE return in just one month. My husband is now wanting to invest as much money as we can also.
What would I even need to know before investing any money?
Please, no technical terms, like I said, I’ve never invested.

Dont invest more than you can afford to lose. If they have had a huge return depending on how big its been they could be in small cap also known as oenny stocks which are very risky and you could lose alot if not all. Also if its went up alot latley i could be in need of a correction were the price would pu;; back. Hope this helps a little.

Any really good real estate investing programs that make sense for this market?

By Trading Pro Course Advisor · March 28, 2010 · Filed in Investing · 3 Comments »

Does anyone know of any real estate investing courses that really help you make money in today’s crazy market? I don’t want to pay for stuff that doesn’t work any more.

NO they are all scams – enlist the services of a realtor or real estate attorney and find a really smart mortgage broker who is a member of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers. Several of those "get rich quick investing programs" are under investigation by the states and federal Attorney generals offices-

I’m 16 and looking to start investing. How can I begin and how much money should I risk at first?

By Trading Pro Course Advisor · March 26, 2010 · Filed in Investing · 10 Comments »

I have always been interested in the stock market and how it works, and I believe that I am not old enough and mature enough to invest. I have had a $8 an hour job for about a year now, so i have a good amount of money to start with. But where should I start? How much money should I put at risk for my first time? Where can I find a good source to learn even more about investing? Thanks in advance.

My brother started investment accounts for my children, two own stock in Southern Company, two in PSE&G (both are utility companies). Their accounts were started with $250 invested directly though the companies. Many companies have direct buy programs which require low investments to start. He puts $100 into each account for them each birthday and Christmas. It is really easy to do. You can try to go to the company’s websites and get information there. I think Coca-Cola has a similar program. On the other hand, starting a Vanguard IRA at your age would be a great option, you can learn more by going to www.vanguard.com. Both the options I described are long term, stable investments with low or no costs. Good luck! If you want to learn more, Money magazine is great for learning about investments, I also like "The Motley Fool" investors, both websites are informative and legit.

What is real estate investing and is it good to invest in it?

By Trading Pro Course Advisor · March 24, 2010 · Filed in Investing · 3 Comments »

Im in 12th grade about to graduate and plan on investing, How would you invest in real estate threw ETF’S? or something else? are their any negatives investing in real estate?

An ETF for REITs you mean?

Any way there are several ways you can begin to invest in real estate. A REIT or real estate investment trust is a kind of stock that represents a share in a RE investment company. REITs usually specialize in rental housing or commercial property. There are many specialties within these categories as well. Law requires REITs to pay out almost all income back to shareholders as dividends. REIT shares are usually pretty easy to buy and sell, so they are a decent way to start.

If you want to be a real real estate investor however, you have to buy and lease or sell property in your own right or with partners. One of the key reasons for this is leverage. When buyinf REIT shares you are buying straight-up equity. But when you buy a shopping center or rental house, a bank will lend you part of the money to buy, freeing up more cash to make improvements or buy additional properties.

This ability to leverage, receive income and tax deductions while realizing capital appreciation, (real estate inflation) over the long term is what makes RE investing so powerful. Most rich people in the US made a substantial portion of their fortune through RE investing, Good luck

How do I take care of an investing problem?

I got into investing in a cosmetics company through a friend of mine. I met with the guy starting the company and signed a contract with him stating that I have invested $5000 with the company and i will collect from profits for 2 years. From the looks of it the company hasn’t gotten up and running and he’s been spending money on rolex’s and moving into a new apartment. I really want to get my money back from this individual. How can I?
